Job Description
This social work position job duties include the following as assigned by supervisor/program administrator provides placement and adoption services for children (ages 0 – 18) that are in the legal custody of the Vance County Dept. of Social Services provides Foster Care placement services for children (ages 14 – 21) LINKS services to teens ages 14-18 and extended foster care services to young adults ages 18-21. The social worker in this position will demonstrate knowledge of social work principles techniques and practices and their application to complex casework group work and community problems. Be knowledgeable of a wide range of behavioral and psychosocial problems and their treatment. Ensure that services provided follow State and Federal policies governing Foster Care/Placement Adoption Services LINKS Services and 18-21 program for Young Adults. Demonstrate an ability to express ideas clearly concisely and to plan and execute work effectively. This social worker will also perform On-Call duties during after- hours and weekends when the agency is closed and Disaster Duty as needed. This position as well as all other SW III positions are expected to and required to work overtime as needed outside of the normal work schedule of Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm. Directly affects clients their families foster homes adoptive parents depending on caseload.
Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies:
Essential functions:
Work with community partners to include GAL program; schools; medical personnel and mental health professionals to ensure the well-being needs of the children and families are properly addressed. Perform client and family assessments for cases open for foster care and adoption services. Make referrals for follow-up services when necessary; preparing court and adoption summaries; testify in court; attend Child and Family Team meetings; permanency planning reviews; and other meetings to support the plan of the children while providing support and guidance to Parent(s); Foster Parents and Adoptive Parents.

Special Requirements: Proficiency desired in Typing Word and Excel. Valid driver’s license is required.
