Job Title: Junior Varsity Cheerleading Coach
Location: Vance County High School, Henderson, NC
Reports To: Athletic Director
Job Summary:
Vance County High School is seeking a passionate and energetic Junior Varsity Cheerleading Coach to lead and inspire student-athletes. The JV Cheerleading Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive cheer program that promotes school spirit, supports athletic events, and fosters teamwork, discipline, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and lead all practices, performances, and events for the JV cheerleading team.
- Teach and demonstrate proper cheerleading techniques, including stunts, tumbling, and choreography, while prioritizing safety.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment that promotes teamwork and school spirit.
- Collaborate with the Varsity Cheerleading Coach to align routines, expectations, and schedules.
- Supervise students at all practices, games, competitions, and school events to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Develop and enforce team guidelines, including attendance, behavior, and academic performance standards.
- Assist with coordinating uniforms, equipment, and other team needs, ensuring proper maintenance and inventory.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and team events.
- Represent Vance County High School in a professional and positive manner at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- Previous experience in cheerleading or coaching, particularly at the high school level, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of cheerleading safety guidelines, stunting techniques, and choreography.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches and school staff.
- Commitment to the academic success and personal growth of student-athletes.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to actively participate in practices and demonstrate cheerleading techniques.
- Ability to lift and move cheerleading equipment as needed.
