Starting salary will depend on qualifications and experience.Job DescriptionThis supervisor position will oversee staff that provide In-Home Services within Child Protective Services for children and their families where abuse, neglect or dependency has been found. These cases require the development of a family services case plan to address these issues. Supervisor will provide ongoing case consultations with staff, individually and in a team setting, to monitor progress of each case and family unit as well as ensuring the ongoing safety of the children in the home. As legal intervention may be required, the supervisor must be knowledgeable of laws, policies and procedures in order to appropriately direct staff. This position may assist in making screening decisions regarding child abuse and neglect reports, providing consultation to CPS Investigators, and providing after-hours on-call backup support to child welfare social workers as needed. This supervisor may be required to assist with supervision of foster children after-hours and on weekends in the DSS office when appropriate placement is pending or assist with shelter operations in the event of a disaster declaration. Supervisor will interact with other supervisors within the Department and community stakeholders, including law enforcement, schools, medical providers and others. KSA: Abilities - Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Considerable knowledge of social work principles; techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and governmental and private organizations and community resources. Considerable knowledge of the laws; regulations and policies which govern social work programs. Ability to supervise; train; or orient lower-level social workers; students; interns or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively Minimum Training and Experience - Master's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a master's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
