The Event and Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Director of Plant Operations and is primarily responsible for preparing the Civic Center and other facilities for scheduled events. In addition to the primary functions associated with the Civic Center, this position performs general maintenance at all VGCC campuses. Due to the nature of work for this position it does not have the option to TeleworkFor all staff positions, salary determinations are based on the minimum educational qualifications required and the number of years of relevant experience associated with the position. The entry-level salary at VGCC corresponds to individuals possessing the minimum years of experience necessary for this role. Conversely, to qualify for the upper end of VGCC's salary range, an individual must have over 25 years of experience relevant to the position.The following listing of essential job duties indicates the general nature and level of work required in this job. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Sets up sound system, lighting, staging, tables, and chairs in Civic Center and other facilities per Facilities Coordinator instructions.Assist in preparing Civic Center for concerts and other events per Facilities Coordinator instructions.Attend and provide audio assistance for the Board of Trustee meetings (every other month) Maintains floors in the Civic Center, Kitchen, Seminar 1 and 2, and Civic Center Lobby Removes trash from Civic Center Maintain and repair general building components, including but not limited to furniture, doors, windows, locks, ceilings, walls, floors, roofs, etc.Perform minor painting as required.Use electronic work order system to document all work activities.Use email and electronic calendar (shared).Assist Maintenance Technicians on projects. Assist groundskeeping staff when preparing for special events.Works on occasional nights and weekends as necessary.Remove litter from buildings and grounds as needed.Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Plant Operations.

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, climb and work from ladders, and work in extreme weather conditions. Walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and repetitive movements.
