What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate, Portfolio Analytics position at Vance Street Capital?
The Associate, Portfolio Analytics will be a proven self-starter who is financially savvy, proactive, and hands-on. The Associate will partner with the Chief Financial Officer, account team, financial operations team, and the investor relations team to ensure portfolio company financial reporting is accurate and timely.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
o Portfolio Company Reporting (internal)
o Liaison between the Portfolio Company CFOs and Vance for financial reporting
o Track all monthly reports and budgets within Cobalt (Vance internal reporting software package)
o Ensure all Portfolio Company numbers are synced and accurate within Cobalt
o Prepare the Portfolio Company Dashboard
o Data Analytics of the Portfolio Companies’ financials
o Benchmarking of portfolio company costs / trends
o Enhance the reporting / metrics tracked for each portfolio company
o Automate and improve process for collecting and summarizing metrics using Cobalt
INVESTOR REPORTING (external)
o Support quarterly reporting to investors
o Improve / Enhance reporting to investors
o Support requests from investors including financial and operational metrics
INTERNAL VALUATION SUPPORT
o Ensure accuracy of financial data within Vance’s internal valuations
o Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelors degree Finance, Business or related field.
Experience:
· 5 years of experience in related field.
· Strong business acumen and viewed as a trusted advisor by key business stakeholders.
· Detailed-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
· Strategic thinker with the ability to “roll up the sleeves” to analyze details
· Creative problem solver with strong analytical capabilities.
· Team player who is a clear communicator.
· Entrepreneurial, results-driven self-starter with a strong sense of urgency.
· High level of integrity and dependability
· Private equity / M&A experience
· Quality of earnings and/or audit background
· Strong accounting acumen; specifically in manufacturing / costing
· Financial Reporting Systems intuitiveness
· Experience working with the business tools including: strong working knowledge using Excel and data systems.
· Ability to produce quality work within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
· Self-starter approach.
· Ability to embrace technology and realize its potential to drive decision making and process improvements.
· Preferred (not required) experience using Cobalt software
