JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Receptionist is responsible to greet patients, clients, visitors and direct them to appropriate areas. Provide information services; respond to requests for information, such as location of facilities and personnel, telephone numbers and general information or refers to others. Maintain lists, staff directories and tidiness of reception area. Operate a switchboard to answer incoming calls; obtain/provide information, transfer to the appropriate department/area, take/relay messages and/or page as required.. Respond to emergency signals in accordance with established codes and procedures. Process incoming and outgoing mail; receive, open and date stamp incoming mail, package, sort and distribute, prepare outgoing mail, sign courier receipts and send/ receive faxes. Perform a variety of clerical duties such as maintain files and office supplies, schedule appointments and book meeting rooms. Perform general word processing and data entry functions.QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Grade 12, Office Assistant Certificate and six (6) months recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to be sensitive, tactful and diplomatic with clients and the public.Knowledge of general office procedures.Ability to type 30 w.p.m.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to work independently and effectively with others.Ability to organize and prioritize work.Ability to operate related equipment.Computer skills; able to operate a computerized client care information system , word processing and spreadsheet softwarePhysical ability to carry out the duties of the position.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
