Vandalia Blacktop & Sealcoating, Inc., a reputable commercial and residential asphalt contractor serving the Miami Valley for the past 50 years.
Key Responsibilites:
- Lead and supervise a crew of site preparation technicians, ensuring that all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
- Coordinate crew activities, including assigning tasks, managing resources, and ensuring adherence to project timelines.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of site preparation equipment, including skid steer, rollers, graders and other specialized machinery.
- Conduct pre-job meetings to review project plans, safety protocols, and job requirements with crew members.
- Monitor work progress and quality conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with company standards and customer expectations.
- Train and mentor crew members, providing guidance on proper site preparation techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, Operations Manager, and estimator to address any issues or concerns that may arise during site preparation projects.
- Maintain accurate records of crew activities, including work hours, equipment usage, and materials used.
- Enforce safety protocols and regulations on job sites, promoting a culture of safety awareness and compliance among crew members.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and coordinating repairs as needed to minimize downtime and ensure productivity. Make sure that problems are reported to the maintenance manager along with the Whip Around maintenance app.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, supervisors, and clients to provide updates on project status, address concerns, and resolve any issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor while representing the company or wearing company apparel while clocked out.
- Adhere to all guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Possess and maintain the ability to effectively carry out the responsibilities of this position unassisted. This includes vibration of the roller, unloading plate compactor, unloading equipment, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending over, and repetitive motion.
- Inspect the job prior to leaving to assure the quality of the work. It’s acceptable to delegate clean-up and other simple tasks. Drainage is the responsibility of the foreman and to make sure that that the job is up to the job description standards.
- This role requires working beyond typical hours to meet project deadlines. Flexibility in working hours is essential. You must complete the job efficiently and in a timely manner. A typical day is 7 am- 5 pm and you are expected to call the operations manager when you have completed last job. It is possible that the operations manager will add on extra jobs. It is not permissible to tell the operations manager you won’t do extra jobs.
- Properly train your helper.
- Adhere to all guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- The foreman must adhere to the problem-solving instructions in the employee handbook in a timely manner.
- Treat others as you would want to be treated. This includes all Vandalia Blacktop employees, inspectors, general contractors, customers, and the general public.
- Management will reference the Prep Crew foreman job descriptions when making evaluations.
