JOB SUMMARY
The Intermediate Accountant - Financial Reporting role on the financial reporting team participates in detailed account analysis and financial activities. This role collaborates with the team for process enhancements, financial reporting, and other special projects. The individual works with other accounting teams to ensure accurate data is reported. The intermediate is the primary preparer for most monthly and quarterly close reporting tasks, license requests received from the licensing team, FASB research, and other duties as assigned. The position also requires involvements in financials statement preparation, financial reviews, and various quarterly presentations.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Accounting Close Period Process
- Prepares accounting files related to the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to include but not limited to analysis reports reported to new loans, warehouse loan balances, repo, and accrued interest
- Prepares company specific and consolidated financial statements on a monthly basis
- Assists with review of financial statements reported to Corporate Accounting
- Completes Hierarchy reconciliation of general ledger accounts
- Updates reconciliations and other reports for any manual adjustments during the close process
Compliance / Policies and Procedures
Assists with the accounting of all leasesMonitors current leases to help ensure compliance with ASC 842 by reviewing lease agreementsReviews current leases for current amortization and helps set up new leases as right-of-use assetsAssists with the preparation of the quarterly reporting requirements for the Mortgage Banker's Financial Reporting Form and the Mortgage Call ReportPerforms various other license requests as neededTracks and evaluates all related parties and prepares the quarterly related parties disclosuresAnalyzes 3rd party financial statement review requestsContinuous Improvement / Team Member Engagement
Prepares quarterly research interpreting various regulations or FASB standards pertaining to Company activity and provide recommendations to senior managementResearches regulations for the reporting of activity to states, governmental agencies, or investors to help ensure complianceParticipates in monthly team training and quarterly job shadows to further knowledge of CompanyCollaborates with team to provide process improvements, modernize files, auditing of current files to ensure accuracy and other special projects as they ariseFinancial Statement Preparation and Audit
Assists with financial statement preparation including compiling workpapers, financial statements, and disclosures for annual Vanderbilt standalone financial statement reviewAssists with yearly audit requests by 3rd party auditorAssists with the research of equity and net worth requirements and forecasting following month net worth projectionsOther duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS :
College degree or advanced degree required in accounting or finance.Two to Four years' experience in accounting related field.Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.Querying Knowledge.Effective Communication Skills.Attention to DetailOrganization and Analytical Skills.Ability to work in a team environment.Motivated and self-starter.Quality minded.Willing to learn, hard-working, determined, and assertive.PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
