The Pediatric Float Pool provides specialty services throughout Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital, including acute care, critical care, emergency, and neonatal ICU. One of the perks of working in the Pediatric Float Pool is the opportunity to collaborate with amazing people across the hospital. Our team supports units in pediatric medicine, surgical services, cardiology, oncology/hematology, emergency, neonatal intensive care, and pediatric intensive care.
Schedule: This PRN role (4 shifts per 6 weeks) is a blend of shifts.
Day Shift - 6:45 am - 7:15 pm
Night Shift - 6:45 pm - 7:15 am
*Set schedules are not available. Unit clinical staffing needs determine schedules. Since the Float Pool covers other units staffing gaps, flexibility in scheduling is required.
Training Schedule:
Week 1: Monday & Tuesday during business hours and self-paced online learning
Next: 6 to 8 12-hour shifts on multiple units for cross-training, to be completed within 3 weeks
Care Partner Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) AND one of the following:
Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester, including nursing fundamentals clinical, or
Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certification is not mandatory, but a certificate of completion is required), or
Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner or nursing assistant/patient care technician.
