Responsible to accurately record results and assure timely delivery of results. Has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for the accurate performance of laboratory test methodologies. These tests are used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients and the evaluation of the patient's response to treatment. Applies clinical knowledge to achieve accurate clinical test results which leads to quality patient care outcomes.The VUMC Hematopathology Department is in need of a Medical Lab Scientist 2 to join the team at our new Metro Center location! This position is eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.Job Summary : The person in this position is an ASCP licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), who is responsible for day-to-day processing and analysis of Flow Cytometry, Protein Electrophoresis, and bone marrow samples and performs the standard duties of an MLS in the Hematopathology / Flow Cytometry laboratory without assistance.This position provides technical and analytical support for Hematopathology Flow Cytometry, Protein Electrophoresis testing, and bone marrow processing. Functions include use of flow cytometry and protein electrophoresis in tasks of various complexities of performing and interpreting assays, teaching, training, troubleshooting, instrument function, and Hematopathologist consultation.Shift : Monday - Friday - 1st shift with occasional rotational coverage on Saturdays and holidays.Sign-On Bonus Requirements : The sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months.
