Description
The Vanderbilt University English Department seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Poetry Writing to begin Fall 2025. We invite applications from writers of poetry whose body of work has earned national distinction and recognition. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate creative writing courses and seminars; directing graduate theses; and participating in the stewardship of a vibrant undergraduate and graduate creative writing program. The successful candidate will have an MFA or PhD in English, awarded by August 1, 2025, with a concentration in Creative Writing (Poetry), at least one book of poetry, and demonstrable excellence in teaching and mentorship. The teaching load is a 2/2. Experience with literary programming and/or editing is desirable. Please submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, a description of a current project, teaching portfolio that includes all available course evaluations, sample syllabi, and a writing sample of 10-15 pages of poetry through Interfolio by October 15, 2024.
