Job Description
The Assistant Director plays a key leadership role in the Environmental Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) organization at Vanderbilt University.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage radiation and laser safety programs in EHSS.
- Act as the university's Radiation Safety Officer to fulfill regulatory obligations.
- Develop strategic and tactical leadership for a comprehensive laboratory program providing a safe work environment.
- Maintain university compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
The Assistant Director will oversee EHSS staff, develop strong relationships with research faculty and staff, and champion efficiency and effectiveness through the use of safety informatics and metrics.
About the Work Unit:
EHSS is part of the Division of Administration and supports a top-13 world-class research university.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Master's degree required.
- Certification in radiation and laser safety concepts, standards, and regulations.
- 8 years of experience in radiation and laser safety, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Expert knowledge in radiation and laser safety, Microsoft and Adobe products, and EHS Assist software.
