WIC Nutritionist

• Complete MIS application, certification procedure, and documentation including height, weight, and hemoglobin.
• Evaluate client’s nutritional status through dietary assessment and consultants and make recommendations in relation to nutritional needs, family income, cultural food patterns, home facilities, and modifications in diet.
• Follow guidelines supported by a Participant Centered approach.
• Create and tailor a food prescription using the MIS application that is appropriate to the client’s needs.
• Document assessments, evaluations, counseling, and referrals on the MIS application.
• Provide educational programs for clients in the form of classes or demonstrations and maintain related files and records.
• Provides all pregnant and breastfeeding women with nutrition education opportunities that promote and support breastfeeding.
• Work cooperatively with other staff and community agencies.

Must be one of the following:

• Registered Dietitian
• Bachelors or Master’s degree graduate which, through review of an official transcript from an accredited college, includes the study of nutrition. These degrees include but are not limited to:
  • Family and Consumer Sciences, Food and Nutrition in Business, Nutrition, Fitness and Health Nutrition or Nutrition Sciences.
  • Public Health Nutrition, Community Nutrition or Clinical Nutrition.
  • Registered Nurse
• Experience in maternal and child health or public health setting preferred.

• Starting salary: $23.61 – $25.92/Hour
• Comprehensive benefits package, including: 5 vacation days after the first 6 months and

• 40-hour work week with very occasional weekend assignments. Full time, usual hours 8:00pm–4:30pm, MTTH, W 7am-6pm, FR 8am-1:30pm with lunch breaks.
