POSITION SUMMARY
Vanderlande’s Amazon Operations Department is responsible for the execution of Material Handling Systems and Warehouse Automation systems for our Amazon Projects throughout North America. Vanderlande’s Vendor Qualification (VQ) group is responsible for inspecting new material handling systems and judging the quality of its installation for all new facilities that are equipped with Vanderlande systems. The increasing number of new projects and their geographical spread means the team is growing and expanding. Moreover, the challenging project schedules add a layer of complexity to already complex projects.
You will report hierarchically to the Quality Execution Manager. While present at job sites, you will report progress of Vendor Qualification to the site leadership team. In this position, you will be working within a fast-paced team to inspect brand new Vanderlande systems and recording any part of the conveyance that does not meet quality standards in the Punch List. As Vendor Qualification Manager you will also manage a team, which might be internal or external depending on the project, which will be executing the system checks based on the project schedule and the priorities that you and the site management team agree on. In addition to inspections, a Vendor Qualification Manager will assist the site installation team in managing fixing items on the Punch List. Lastly, Vendor Qualification Manager will be responsible for working with other departments, such as manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, quality, and installation, on reducing the number of repeating Punch List items.
Essential Functions (Job Duties And Responsibilities)
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 800 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasionally Saturdays while traveling.
Travel
This position will require about 80% travel. While at project sites, Vendor Qualification Managers are expected to
work normal site hours Monday through Friday (occasionally on Saturdays). While in the office or remote, VQ Lead Engineers are expected to work normal office hours Monday through Friday.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions (Job Duties And Responsibilities)
- Perform system inspections through an external application.
- Manage the VQ group that is present on site and delegate tasks to ensure efficient completion of VQ inspections
- Open punch list items for any installation quality issues (ex. missing/loose parts, damaged equipment, deviations from Client/Vanderlande standards).
- Assist site superintendents and foremen in managing and closing punch list items.
- Report to and work alongside the client’s internal inspection team to coordinate efforts.
- Generate status reports to communicate progress on VQ and punch list items to VQ Manager daily.
- Generate similar status reports to communicate progress on VQ and punch list items to Project Manager, Site Manager, and Superintendents on a weekly basis.
- Propose improvements to increase quality of installation within manufacturing, supply, and assembly based on data from repeat punch list items.
- Coordinate quality-driven activities alongside quality within engineering, manufacturing, and installations
- Drive on-site improvements with installations based on punch list items that are a consistent issue.
- Propose optimizations for Vanderlande’s adherence to Vendor Qualification.
- Document and propose ideal working processes to support an end to end lean and efficient vendor qualification process.
- Optimize site installations process and select most cost-efficient method to be implemented.
- Realize further end to end cost benefits within manufacturing and installation.
- Provide data analysis on cost reduction opportunities for pre-assembly of systems and installation.
- Degree in Quality Assurance, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
- Microsoft suite experience.
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for most of the typical workday
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Power Query and Power BI are differentials.
- Experience with data analytics.
- Experience implementing process improvements driven by data.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Great communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to present findings in clear manner.
- Able to take ownership of tasks.
- Ability to start tasks based on data rather than verbal communication from manager.
- Ability to deliver in time constricted and high stress situations.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
