JOB SUMMARY:
The role of the Logistics Coordinator is essential to the success of Vane Line Bunkering operations. As a Logistics Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating the safe and efficient movement of tugboats and barges delivering a variety of petroleum products across many regions within the United States. You are the first point of contact for vessel crews, customers, and trade partners. During day-to-day operations you will manage vessel schedules, coordinate deliveries with vessel agents, and provide outstanding service to our valued customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- SCHEDULING FUNCTIONS
- Manage schedules for multiple vessel movements in a variety of ports.
- Actively monitor and update our proprietary logistics software.
- Communicate with vessel agents on vessel schedules and particulars.
- Coordinate loadings and deliveries with cargo terminals.
- Communicate with trade partners to advise on vessel operations.
- Coordinate vessel movements with Operation/Engineering teams to carry out vessel maintenance and inspections.
- ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS
- Accept new cargo/bunker nominations from our customers and input them into our proprietary logistics software.
- Finalize and track cargo/bunker orders from our customers.
- Verify completed jobs to be processed by the billing department.
- CUSTOMER SERVICE FUNCTIONS
- Communicate directly with customers via phone and email.
- Generate vessel delivery schedules and work with our customers to achieve their objectives.
- Provide direct support for customers and be their resource for problem solving.
- Establish a rapport and strong relationships with our customers.
- VESSEL SUPPORT FUNCTIONS
- Communicate in real time with our vessel crews to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Problem solving with crews and operations managers.
- Relay emergency/incident communications to the proper points of contact.
- OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the chartering department in customer relations and marketing initiatives.
- Be available to be a general point of contact for multiple outside parties.
- Contribute to the continual improvement, optimization, and innovation of the Fleet Logistics department.
Work as directed by Logistics Managers to provide outstanding service to our customers, trade partners, and seafaring employees.
Qualifications
- EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s degree (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s Degree from a Maritime Academy (Strongly Preferred)
- 1-2 years of logistics experience (Preferred)
- Operational experience in the Maritime Industry (Preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Products (Word, Excel, etc.)
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with computers and technology.
- Maintain strong attention to detail.
- Critical Thinking Skills.
- Customer Service Skills.
- Comfortable with multitasking and managing multiple moving components at any given time.
Work overtime as required / able to work weekends/holidays on a rotational basis
Salary : $65,000 - $80,000
