What are the responsibilities and job description for the CG FINISH COACH position at Vanguard Furniture Co Inc?
Position Summary: Manages the daily activities of casegoods finishing facility.
Position Responsibilities:
Supervise the activities of workers engaged in prepping, finishing, and packing furniture.
Interview, select, and train finishing personnel.
Ensures production schedule and quality specifications are met daily. Maintains relationships with warehouse manager, chemical supplier and upholstery supervisors and customer service.
Plan, develop, or implement plant safety and security programs and activities.
Responsible for hazardous waste storage inspections along with manifest and shipments of waste.
Confer with department heads to coordinate activities, such as production, sales, records control, or purchasing.
Review chemical inventory, packing supplies and other materials on a weekly basis to ensure proper inventory levels are met.
Inspect physical conditions of plant, or equipment and order testing, maintenance, repairs, or replacements.
Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.
Handles employee reviews, corrective actions, attendance reports and other employee related issues as needed.
Provides appropriate orientation for new employees by using supervisor’s check list as well as ongoing coaching.
Responsible for rewarding performance by gift cards or merit increases for exceptional employee performance and/or increased responsibility.
Assigns duties to employees and adequately explains how the duties are to be completed.
Maintains neat and orderly workstation.
Wears required safety glasses, works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Safety Manager.
Performs other duties as required by Manager.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Must be knowledgeable in wood products and finishing
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
Must have exceptional communication skills to provide assistance and support to create an environment that fosters motivation and development.
Must be confidential in all matters.
Must have the ability to enforce all company policies consistently
Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:
AS400 experience.
Prefer Lean Manufacturing experience.
Degree preferred
Physical demands and work environment:
Lift / Carry: Frequently lifting less than 20 lbs.; occasionally lifting more than 35 lbs.; team lift greater weights.
Push / Pull: Frequently pushing or pulling fabric to/from/on workstation weighing less than 10 lbs.
Sitting: Must be able to sit 7 hours. Must be able to sit continuously for the majority of work schedule.
Reach / Handle / Grasp: Repetitive use of feet and hands required.
