Position Summary: Operates computer numerical control machines to fabricate wood parts.
Position Responsibilities:
Load plywood on machine.
Responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines such as but not limited to lathes and milling machines.
Responsible for loading parts, proving out CNC programs, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
Measures and marks dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine within capabilities controls or control media as required insuring quality of production. Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor for maintenance.
Operates a forklift or lifting devices for movement of parts, when certified to do so.
Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality, maintenance and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
Responsible for keeping equipment and work are clean and orderly and perform basic preventive maintenance functions on equipment. Uses LOTO 9lock out/tag out) to de-energize equipment prior to performing any maintenance or repair service.
Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and Safety Environmental Regulations.
Maintains work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety measures.
Wear required safety glasses and work shoes; works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor.
Performs other duties as required by Supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience:
English required for reading tickets and instructions.
Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculation and use basic hand held measuring tools.
CNC operator technical training program completion or equivalent experience.
Physical demands and work environment:
Lift / Carry: Frequently lifting 35 – 50 lbs. onto and off work station; occasionally lifting in excess of 50 lbs.; team lift greater weights.
Standing / Walking: Must be able to stand and walk consistently during the 8 hour day.
Reach / Handle / Grasp: Repetitive use of hands required. Must be able to grasp, extend and place plywood onto and off CNC machine throughout shift.
Bend / Lift / Stoop: Gathering supplies throughout day from various heights, bending, stooping, and climbing.
Environment: Indoors, controlled airflow, depending on building may or may not be air conditioned.
Near Acuity: Requires close vision of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for precision.
