What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC PROGRAMMER position at Vanguard Furniture Co Inc?
Position Summary: Schedule and write programs for CNC Pade and Shoda routers on multiple machines for twenty-four-hour operation at multiple locations by combining cost-efficient nests and the need of customers to produce frames in a fast-paced manufacturing atmosphere.
Position Responsibilities:
Strong organizational skills to be able to track work in process and live orders on daily and weekly schedules
Knowledge of or ability to learn Plataine programming software
Knowledge of G-code and Shoda routers is a plus.
Excellent communication skills orally and by email with other departments including Product development, engineering and maintenance
Ability to import frames to Plataine using SolidWorks models and or SolidCam, AutoCAD drawings
Communicate cost saving methods to PD and Engineering
Ability to prioritize and flexibility to switch priorities on a moment’s notice to supply CNC frames to customers
Communicate to Router operators their work load and priorities as they change from hour to hour
Essential Skills and Experience:
Nesting software experience
Pade CNC Programming experience
SolidCam, SolidWorks, E-lab and AutoCad experience
Microsoft excel and Outlook
AS400

Other Duties and Descriptions:
Ability to troubleshoot CNC Pade and Shoda routers when needed.
Ability and willingness to operate CNC routers
Request maintenance and or outside service tech as needed.
Physical demands and work environment:
Lift / Carry: lift over 10 lbs. frequently; up to 35 pounds occasionally; more weight requires help or team lifting.
Standing/Walking/Sitting: Must be able to sit/walk/stand 8 hours and required to walk/stand throughout shift.
Fingering or Manual Dexterity: Position requires frequent use of computer keyboard, mouse, screen and on-line communication.
Environment: Indoors, not always environmentally controlled.
Vision: Color determination for quality control and correct material selection.
Near Acuity: Requires close vision of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for
precision.
Attention to Detail: Precise in following company guidelines for best cost solution to resolve customer issues.
Self-Control: Job requires maintaining composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations.
Stress Tolerance: Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations.
Time Pressure: Position requires sensitivity to meeting promises, deadlines and timing commitments.
