Position Summary: The lead position is someone who assists the supervisor or manager, and is responsible for a team or group of employees. A lead will be the go-between for employees and management for solving problems or even for addressing general questions. Authority “EXCLUDES” hiring, terminating, employee evaluations, and disciplinary actions. Authority “INCLUDES” direct work activities. To ensure the sanding of whitewood frames are prepared correctly for the finishing process. Position Responsibilities:

- Supports supervisor / manager in maintaining production flow.
- Observe workers performing duties to ensure quality standards are being met.
- Answers questions for department employees to ensure they understand company standards.
- Reviews production schedules to determine work schedules for department. Anticipates problems and communicates to supervisor.
- Keeps up with inventory supplies and reorders when necessary; stocks shelves with supplies from cage.
- Facilitates the flow of repairs, completion of repairs and posts notes to acknowledgment pad.

- Works the off-schedule report and rush orders to ensure product continues to move.
- Provides support in moving off schedule through the plant.
- Assists supervisor / manager with training of employees.
- Works as liaison between manufacturing and customer service.
- Oversees department in supervisor’s absence.
- May perform administrative duties as determined by coach.
- Maintains neat and orderly work station and 6/s in department.
- Wears required safety glasses, works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Safety Manager.
- Performs other duties as required by manager.

Essential Skills and Experience: - Must be knowledgeable in furniture manufacturing, specifically sanding with ability to train new employees as directed by coach.
- Knowledgeable in every aspect of the departments work processes for scheduling and providing training to others.

- Preferably proficient in Microsoft Office.

- Stand/Bend/Stoop/Kneel/Crouch: Must be able to stand 8 hours, repeatedly bend, lift, stoop, kneel or crouch while sanding and push raw frames.
- Push / Pull: Occasionally push/pull and manipulate piece for sanding. Must push frame to holding area.

- Climbing: Must be able to climb up/down ladders between 2 – 8 feet tall using 3 point contact method to reach various heights requiring sanding or finishing or to clean booth and change out filters.
- Tool Usage: Required to use glue gun, spray gun, rubber mallet, hammer, screw driver, channel locks, adjustable wrenches, and other sanding/finishing tools for entire shift. Use brass scraper to clean booths. Must use wash basin to clean tools.
- Environment: Indoors, environmentally controlled; heated.
- Automation: Provided scissor lift for positioning.
- Color Determination: Must distinguish colors and finishes for match, accuracy and quality.
- Near Acuity: Requires close vision of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for precision.
