What are the responsibilities and job description for the RECEIVER FABRIC position at Vanguard Furniture Co Inc?
Position Summary: Receives fabric to meet quality standards for completion of furniture orders.
Position Responsibilities:
Assists in unloading trucks, opening packages, and processing paperwork for all fabrics, trims, leather hides, etc. sent inbound to complete furniture orders.
Measure fabric using rolling/measuring machine to confirm sufficient / correct yardage for order.
Inspect fabric for quality control; determining flaws, damages, defects, and patter repeat issues related to particular furniture styles.
Compare colors, shapes, textures, or grades of products or materials with color charts, templates, or samples to verify conformance to standards.
Record receiving, inspection or measurement data, such as weights, grades, and quantities inspected or graded.
Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
Weigh fabric back from cutting machines and put in correct bin location.
Roll fabrics for cut yardage, swatches and for other teams as needed.
Notify supervisors or other personnel of quality and / or production problems.
Reject fabrics not meeting specifications.
Process production tickets by matching to fabrics staged for each production week, and delivering tickets and fabrics to cutters.
Performs daily and other required inventory cycle counts.
Maintains neat and orderly work station.
Wears required safety glasses and other PPE as required; works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor.
Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience:
English required for reading tickets and job notes. Must be knowledgeable in receiving methods to complete job to quantity specifications.
Must be able to recognize quality problems with fabrics, leather hides, color variations and pattern design.
Knowledge of fabric characteristics and repeat requirements for application to frame(s).
Self-motivated and able to work well alone or with others.
Good verbal and written communication skills; basic computer skills.
Must be a team player, cooperative, and have a good attendance record.
