What are the responsibilities and job description for the Repair/Hand Cutter position at Vanguard Furniture Co Inc?
Position Summary: Cuts fabric to meet quality standards for minimal repairs using 4 way match and full flow.
Position Responsibilities:
Spreads fabric out on cutting table.
Inspects fabric.
Positions pattern on fabric and marks around the pattern using chalk.
Cuts fabric pieces using hand cutter or knife.
Cuts notches in to mark them for assembly.
Shapes or trims excess material from pieces.
May mark identification numbers on parts.
Removes excess pieces from table.
Responsible for fixing their own repairs before starting on new job.
Maintains neat and orderly work station.
Wears required safety glasses, finger guards, and metal gloves; works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor.
Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Must be knowledgeable in upholstery methods and be able to complete job to quality specifications.
English required for reading tickets and job notes. Must be knowledgeable in cutting methods and be able to complete job to quality specifications.
Must be able to recognize problems with pattern design.

Physical demands and work environment:
Lift / Carry: Lifting frequently fabric and patterns less than 35 lbs.; team lift greater weights. Must be able to move fabric rolls from staging area, lift onto table, and lift plastic patterns exceeding 30 lbs.
Standing: Must be able to stand 8 hours.
Push / Pull: Frequent push/pull motion associated with fabric positioning for cutting.
Reach / Handle / Grasp / Feel: Repetitive motions pinching, pulling, reaching across work table for manipulation of fabric or leather. Repetitive use of chalk for marking fabric.
