Job Summary: The Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment on a Special Project located in Abilene, TX. This role will focus on establishing, implementing, and maintaining safety protocols to comply with OSHA standards and company policies. The Safety Manager will work directly with employees, subcontractors, and site managers to enforce safety procedures, conduct regular safety audits, and provide training to reduce workplace hazards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans and programs for low voltage electrical projects.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), and other relevant codes.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure compliance and identify potential hazards on-site.
- Lead and manage safety meetings, training programs, and toolbox talks to ensure staff and subcontractors understand safety expectations.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare detailed reports and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Assist with the development and enforcement of personal protective equipment (PPE) policies for all team members.
- Collaborate with project managers and field staff to ensure safe practices in electrical installations and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, trainings, inspections, and certifications.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure all safety concerns are addressed, and work schedules are adjusted if necessary to accommodate safety priorities.
- Provide safety-related guidance and advice to employees, subcontractors, and management to maintain high safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, or a related field (preferred).
- Certification as a Safety Professional (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 30-hour or 10-hour certification).
- Previous experience (3 years) in a safety management role within the electrical contracting industry or similar construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of low voltage electrical systems and hazards.
- Expertise in OSHA regulations, risk assessments, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures.
- Experience in safety audits, accident investigations, and safety training.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of staff and management.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with electrical safety codes such as NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of construction safety and environmental regulations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to conduct site inspections, including walking, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Capability to work in various weather conditions as required by the site.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
