Position Overview:
The accountant will be focused on managing and analyzing the Profit and Loss (P&L) statements for our physician group, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing operational insights to guide decision-making. The ideal candidate will have expertise in healthcare finance, with significant experience in P&L analysis, trend analysis, and collaborating with Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) teams. This individual will work closely with physicians to review financial performance, identify operational improvements, and drive continuous financial optimization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and cash flow statements for the physician group, ensuring they align with budget projections and identify any significant variances.
- Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team to assess revenue cycle data, ensuring accurate financial records and pinpointing areas for potential process improvements.
- Meet with physicians to present financial performance results, explain P&L variances, and offer insights into possible operational enhancements.
- Support the Controller with financial audits, both internal and external, by providing necessary documentation and insights.
- Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare financial regulations, industry standards, and best practices for managing physician group finances.
- Prepare general ledger entries, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy for all financial transactions.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing process by reconciling balance sheet accounts and preparing journal entries.
- Aid in internal and external audits, ensuring that financial records meet all compliance requirements.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of payments, collections, and vendor relations.
- Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring documentation supports all transactions and is organized for easy retrieval.
- Provide support for tax-related matters, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in the healthcare industry
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and other accounting software. Experience with healthcare-specific accounting systems is a plus.
- Experience with advanced trend analysis, forecasting, and budgeting in a healthcare setting
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable financial insights
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a focus on meeting tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of payroll processing and tax regulations is a plus.
