The Opportunity: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Medical Receptionist to join our team. The Clinical Medical Receptionist plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth patient flow and providing excellent customer service in a clinical setting. This individual must be able to work some weekday evening shifts and rotational weekends. The ideal candidate is someone who has an administrative foundation but is interested in pursuing a clinical training and participate in an on-the-job training program to become a Certified Medical Assistant.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Check-In and Check-Out:
- Greet patients upon arrival, verify demographic and insurance information, and assist with check-in procedures.
- Schedule appointments, collect co-pays, and provide patients with necessary forms and information.
- Patient Coordination and Communication:
- Assist patients in navigating the healthcare system, scheduling follow-up appointments, and obtaining referrals as needed.
- Communicate with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members in a professional and courteous manner.
- Medical Records Management:
- Maintain and update patient medical records, including entering demographic information, medical history, and treatment plans into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of patient records, following established protocols and confidentiality guidelines.
- Insurance Verification and Billing Support:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, obtain pre-authorizations for services, and assist with billing inquiries as needed.
- Work closely with the billing department to ensure accurate coding and billing practices.
- Clinical Support:
- Assist healthcare providers with rooming patients, taking vital signs, and preparing examination rooms for patient visits.
- Provide basic medical assistance, such as performing EKGs, administering injections, or conducting point-of-care testing, under the direction of healthcare providers.
- Patient Education and Support:
- Educate patients about medical procedures, treatment plans, and follow-up care instructions.
- Address patient inquiries, concerns, and requests in a timely and compassionate manner.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain inventory of clinical supplies, ensure adequate stock levels, and reorder supplies as needed.
- Perform regular inventory audits to monitor usage and minimize waste.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures, including HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance audits as required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinical setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and insurance protocols.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer service-oriented approach.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or Medical Receptionist is a plus, but not required.
