• Our scribes and Medical Assistants at Vanguard have a high degree of responsibility. Our team cares for patients from the beginning to the end of each visit, taking care of everything from intake, to assisting the medical provider, to documenting visits, to handling labs and prescriptions.  

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Vanguard is excited to recruit for a medical assistant to support Emily Reynolds, NP in her fast-paced clinic serving patients in Colorado Springs and Woodland Park for general dermatology services. We are passionate about serving the medical dermatology needs of our patients, such as skin cancer treatment and chronic skin conditions. 

• Escorts patients to exam room, takes detailed medical history, documents medications, and confirms reason for visit. Takes vitals as needed. Documents appropriately in the electronic medical record (EMR). 
• Communicates patient reason for visit and medical summary to medical providers accurately and efficiently in preparation for exam. 
• Acts as chaperone for the provider examination. Scribes during the visit, accurately documenting areas examined, notable findings, treatment plan, recommended medications, and recommended procedures. 
• Assists providers in dermatology specific procedures including administering local anesthesia, blotting during surgeries/biopsies, cutting suture, and bandaging post-procedure. 
• Reiterates provider instructions for patient regarding treatment plan and post-operative instructions. Sends orders as directed. 
• Speaks with patients over the phone as directed regarding biopsy results, medication prior authorization status, and other patient questions and concerns. Documents calls and prior authorizations in the EMR. 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree completed at accredited 4-year university or certified/registered medical assistant.  
• Proven track record of working well on teams and delivering excellence. 
• Excellent verbal and written skills required. Customer service experience a plus. 
• Experience with dermatology and aesthetics is a plus.  
• Alignment with the values and mission of Vanguard Skin Specialists. 

Schedule:
This is a full-time position supporting Emily Reynolds, NP and her clinic Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Schedule will cover our Broadmoor office on Monday and every other Thursday, and our Woodland Park office on Tuesday and every other Thursday. This position includes one day per week working with an additional provider to be discussed at time of hire. Hours average 36 – 42 per week.  

This position will be available starting March 2025.  

Reviews: 

Vanguard Skin Specialists believes in providing regular feedback and encouraging professional development. Your first check in with HR will be approximately 90 days from your date of hire. Written annual reviews take place each fall. For individuals with less than 6 months of tenure by fall review but greater than 6 months tenure at spring review, then the initial review will take place in the spring review.  

The practice promotes from within, which provides opportunity for growth and advancement. 

Compensation & Benefits: 

Compensation is $20-23 per hour with eligibility for overtime and paid time off. The practice covers a portion of the premium for medical benefits and also offers vision, dental, and 401K. The position also comes with a Graduate School Stipend, bereavement pay, Paid Maternity & Bonding Leave, ACDT Certification Stipend, Employee Discounts on products and aesthetic services. 

Physical Working Conditions: 

• Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for up to 10 hours 
• Must be able to lift up to 25-50 pounds 
• Operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, printer, copier, scanner, or fax 
• Be able to communicate accurately, effectively and frequently 
• Can identify color on the computer and software used
