Requirements

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Escorts patients to exam room, takes detailed medical history, documents medications, and confirms reason for visit. Takes vitals as needed. Documents appropriately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Communicates patient reason for visit and medical summary to medical providers accurately and efficiently in preparation for exam.
• Acts as chaperone for the provider examination. Scribes during the visit, accurately documenting areas examined, notable findings, treatment plan, recommended medications, and recommended procedures.
• Assists providers in dermatology/plastic surgery specific procedures including administering local anesthesia, blotting during surgeries/biopsies, cutting suture, and bandaging post-procedure.
• Reiterates provider instructions for patient regarding treatment plan and post-operative instructions. Sends orders as directed.
• Speaks with patients over the phone as directed regarding biopsy results, medication prior authorization status, and other patient questions and concerns. Documents calls and prior authorizations in the EMR.

Qualifications:

• Certified/registered medical assistant
• We don’t require prior experience. We do require an unwavering commitment to excellence. We need a promise from you to push yourself to become the very best. We’ll train you and help you get there.
• Proven track record of working well on teams and delivering excellence.
• Excellent verbal and written skills required. Customer service experience a plus.

Schedule:
This is a full-time position with business hours Monday to Friday. You will work across multiple offices (Colorado Springs, Canon City, Woodland Park, and Pueblo). 

Reviews:

Vanguard Skin Specialists believes in providing regular feedback and encouraging professional development. Your first check in with HR will be approximately 90 days from your date of hire. Written annual reviews take place each fall. For individuals with less than 6 months of tenure by fall review but greater than 6 months tenure at spring review, then the initial review will take place in the spring review.

The practice promotes from within, which provides opportunity for growth and advancement.

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation is $21-23 per hour with eligibility for overtime and paid time off. The practice covers a portion of the premium for medical benefits and also offers vision, dental, and 401K. Physical Working Conditions:

• Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for up to 10 hours
• Must be able to lift up to 25-50 pounds
• Operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, printer, copier, scanner, or fax
• Be able to communicate accurately, effectively and frequently
• Can identify color on the computer and software used
