Summary

As a District Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading a field-based team of representatives to drive the sale and promotion of our clients’ selected products in a distinct geography. This role partners with a top-tier pharmaceutical company promoting their products. You will also be responsible for developing and executing sales and marketing strategies, meeting, and exceeding sales goals and achieving all other key operational goals. The District Sales Manager will report to the Vanigent National Business Director and will also be directly responsible for hiring, training, and development, as well as coaching the sales team. Working with your representatives, you will execute the defined metabolic strategy, including business planning and performance metrics, alliance partnership/collaboration, resource planning, market access and pull-through, and leadership of the sales force. You will also lead the business in a manner that ensures compliance with all Vanigent sales business guidelines.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a field-based position. Considering the territory boundaries, ideal cities to reside include Roanoke, Charlottesville, or Richmond.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for motivating, managing, and developing the skill sets and overall performance of the district sales specialists.
  • Effectively identify and monitor multiple local market conditions to build and support strong customer relationships while driving product promotion solutions and executing marketing strategies.
  • Monitor field activities to ensure all are within compliance guidelines and provide timely feedback on marketing tactics and market conditions while collaborating closely with leadership, commercial operations, marketing, and medical affairs.
  • Develops and executes comprehensive plans to support the sales and revenue plans of the organization.
  • Ensures call plan execution by the district sales team through monitoring/reporting sales performance against key performance metrics.
  • Partners with Alliance team to develop integrated business plans, communication, and collaboration with key strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Leads budgeting and expense management for district sales team.

Required Education And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, advanced degree is preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience as a district or regional first-line manager
  • 10 years of commercial pharmaceutical experience
  • Endocrinology and Diabetes experience is preferred
  • Documented history and proven track record of sales success
  • Ability to meet travel demands - 70% field time and other travel as necessary, including overnights and/or weekends
  • Must pass background check and drug screening
  • Preference for the DSM to live in the district boundaries
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a District, create and execute strategic plans and drive results through others.
  • Ability to develop, recruit and hire top talent.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Strong analytical capability.
  • Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
