POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Specialist, Production is a member of the Quality Department and is responsible for the inspection and/or audit of vehicle build with adherence to documented processes and quality inspection criteria. The Quality Specialists will monitor and inspect materials, production processes, and final products, identifying defects or deviations from specifications, and ensuring that corrective actions are implemented. The Quality team is responsible for maintaining the high level of quality that consumers expect from our products. Quality Specialists work closely with operation teams to maintain consistent product quality and improve processes. This is a “safety sensitive” position; therefore, the employee must adhere to all OSHA and Standard Operating Procedures that have been put into place.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Adhere and maintain quality processes and inspection criteria
- Perform detailed inspections of in-process products and finished goods to ensure they meet specified quality standards
- Conduct tests on vehicle as required, such as functional test, durability tests, and safety checks
- Record inspection results, measurements, and test data accurately
- Provide training and instruction as applicable to address defects identified during inspections
- Work closely with production teams, engineers, and management to address quality issues and give suggestions for corrective actions
- Application of 6S and lean tools to foster overall lean maturity
- Ability and willingness to work overtime or modified shift hours
- Must be comfortable working in teams and interacting with personnel from other departments
- Self-motivation and the ability to assist other members of the QC team perform their duties
- Other duties as required by operational needs
SAFETY
- Quality personnel will conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, and all state and federal regulations (such as 6S, Lean Manufacturing, OSHA, etc.). Bring concerns to the attention of your Supervisor, Manager, VP of Operations, Safety Manager or HR Director.
- Quality personnel must ensure that all workplace safety standards and practices are upheld
- Quality personnel must always adhere to the PPE requirements
ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is also exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud while on the production line.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to read, learn and understand instructions, both written and verbal, in English
- Ability to use measurement tools such as rulers and gap gauges
- Strong analytical and organizational skills required
- Strong attention to detail, quality focused and willingness to learn
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate and organize effectively
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Honest, ethical and handles things in a professional manner
- Positive attitude, enthusiastic, team player, multi-tasking, driven and results-minded
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience as a Quality Inspector or in a similar role in a manufacturing or production environment
- Familiarity with quality control processes and inspection techniques
- Automotive experience a plus
- Valid driver’s license required; clean driving record must be maintained
- Training in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing a plus
- Bilingual a plus
