Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and will manage the general ledger, including responsibility for monthly balance sheet reconciliations and performing month-end close processes to ensure timely monthly financial reporting. As the company grows, this role will require an adaptable individual with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. A key focus will be on driving the improvement of processes that will provide efficiencies and accurate reporting on the general ledger, which will also help ensure that we can efficiently fold in new businesses into our processes as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Reconcile account balances on a monthly or quarterly basis (depending on key account status) to the general ledger, including identifying, explaining, and correcting any discrepancies.
- Month-End Close: Assist in managing the month-end close process, including calculating monthly journal entries, such as accruals, and entering them in the general ledger. Perform month-end close duties in line with the established timeline.
- Annual Audit: Assist with year-end audit processes by providing relevant documentation and support.
- Process Improvement: Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to streamline operations, reduce errors, and improve efficiency. Contribute ideas to innovate workflows and reporting.
- Reporting: Prepare and create monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as needed to assist with the review of the general ledger.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Assist other members of the accounting and finance teams as needed and contribute to overall departmental goals and initiatives. Work closely with finance to answer questions concerning financial results.
- Compliance & Controls: Ensure accounting transactions are in compliance with GAAP, company policies, and relevant financial regulations. Implement new accounting standards and review processes for appropriate internal controls.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience and comfortability to learn different accounting software is preferred (experience with NetSuite is a plus).
Work Environment:
- This position is hybrid, with flexibility for remote work. In-office days are currently in St. Louis Park, with a permanent location in the Twin Cities West Metro expected soon.
