The Assistant Store Manager will assist the Store Manager in driving revenue and profitability growth, targeting increased profit generation for the ministry, and driving Vapor’s preferred culture.
In this role, the individual will be responsible for aiding the Store Manager in overseeing all operations of the VTS (Vapor Thrift Store) location. The individual must be a leader, and must aid in accountability of staff adhering to processes and policies.

Time Requirements:
With sensitivity to personal and family needs, this position will require a minimum of 40 in-store working hours per week. This time will be a 75/25 split – 75% spent actively working on the floor in receiving, processing and retail; 25% spent on other leadership, management, and administration duties.
Travel Requirements:
Intermittent travel to Vapor HQ for meetings, and potentially to other VTS locations. Infrequent travel to our international centers may be offered.
Position duties:
The Assistant Store Manager will be responsible for providing leadership of the VTS location by aiding the Store Manager in operating a Vapor Thrift Store within the parameters of agreed-upon policies and procedures. The Assistant Store Manager will serve as a player-coach, an integral member of the organization that effectively fulfills both productive and leadership roles simultaneously.

- Drive culture formation in Associates via cultural development systems
- Drive mission, vision, and values engagement with Associates
- Drive cultural accountability via regular meetings with Associates
- Assist in sourcing new Associate candidates, interviews, hiring and
- Identify policy and procedural gaps inside store processes
- Drive performance accountability via regular meetings with Associates
- Open and close the store
- Assist with scheduling, payroll and other “back office” duties as needed
- Drive adherence to process and procedure for effectiveness and efficiency of
- Drive an exceptional donor/customer experience
- Be maniacal about cleanliness, order, convenience, safety, kindness, knowledge and
- Primary point of responsibility for the interior excellence appearance of the store
- Work regular hours in all areas of the store: receiving, processing & retail
- Drive an exceptional customer experience in the Retail side of the store
- Identify gaps in processes/systems hindering revenue/profitability growth
- Connect revenue & profitability growth with missional impact
