What are the responsibilities and job description for the Home Infusion Pharmacy Intake Coordinator position at VAR Infusion Pharmacy (DBA Summa's Home Infusion)?
Vision:
This position will be responsible for initial patient referrals, insurance verification and coordination of new admissions with nursing and pharmacy. A willingness to share information, workload, and resources will be a key attribute of the Operational Intake Coordinator. Communication and managing relationships with internal and external referral sources. Exceptional customer service and high levels of technical knowledge and skills will result in a high level of quality in the work accomplished by this individual. This position is part of a team of professionals dedicated to achieving reimbursement goals, as well as providing quality service and care for patients.
Mission:
To accurately gather and communitcate information with referal sources to begin the process of determining admission and benefits, in order for the home care and infusion team to determine the feasibility of taking on a new patient, as well as track and monitor current pateints for order, authorization and benefit changes.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collects incoming referral data and communicates case status and patient responsibility
- Coordinates infusion services with pharmacy team
- Coordinates home care services with nursing agencies
- Continuously monitors pending referrals and ensures benefit verification and precertification have been completed timely and accurately
- Uses information management systems and technology to support reimbursement system
- Maintains positive relationships with payer and referral sources
- Users broad base of Infusion resources to solve problems
- Verifies and documents benefits information
- Completes and manages all paperwork or supportive documentation required for performing effective billing and forwarding to billing department
- Communicates and coordinates with team (Pharmacist,Reimbursement Manager and Director) early on in the Admission process regarding details relating to care and admission that can impact the ability to provide service
- Secures clinical feasibility
- Communicates financial responsibilities
- Serves as a resource to Associates regarding reimbursement issues
- Participates with Marketing efforts by giving information that could be helpful and communicates needs and opportunities to the Accounts Executive.
- Helps to maintain reimbursement-related computer databases
- Supports billing, collections, provides general oversight to accounts as assigned and performs other duties as necessary, assigned and appropriate.
- Possesses basic working knowledge of payer contracts, related pricing, and terms of the contract
- Participates in overall Performance Improvement Plan
Education/ Skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ohio Board of Pharmacy Technician License or have the ability to obtian license within 6 month of hire.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail Oriented
- Independent/ self-directed worker
- Knowledge of computer operations
- Knowledge of insurance and third-party payment systems
ADA Physical Requirements

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
