Variant Investments, LLC is an asset manager located in Portland, Oregon that manages three rapidly growing alternative investment funds with approximately $3.0B in assets under management. The firm is led by an investment team with decades of experience investing in niche markets. Variant’s flagship fund (NICHX) targets niche market opportunities, such as investments in specialty lending, litigation finance, diamond lending, real estate, film finance, and royalties. Variant also has an impact-focused fund, targeting similar esoteric opportunities, but with alignment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Both funds are structured as interval funds. Variant also recently launched a tender offer fund, the Variant Alternative Lending Fund.
Job Opening: Vice President, Investor Relations
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with institutional and RIA prospects and clients across national markets, largely focused on the midwest and southeast.
- Lead investor relations calls with prospects and clients.
- Create and maintain competitive landscape information and industry standard materials.
- Manage the completion of custom client and prospect requests, as well as completion of custom due diligence questionnaires.
- Assist with the management of the client and prospect database within the firm’s CRM system (Salesforce).
- Help manage the complete suite of marketing collateral, including factsheets, presentations, due diligence questionnaires, data room, and quarterly updates, as well as contribute to the creation of new marketing materials.
- Assist in the build out of automated marketing deliverables to streamline the production processes.
- Contribute to the development and utilization of various investment and investor reporting tools.
- Participate in the firm’s weekly Investment Committee meetings.
- Participate in the development of internal policies and controls around the marketing initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Minimum bachelor’s degree, with preference for Finance, Economics, or Marketing, additional preference for masters degree and/or industry designations.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the investment industry.
- Broad understanding of investor landscape and overall marketplace.
- Prior fund distribution experience and securities licenses (specifically Series 7) required.
- Preference for strong technical skills in Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and Salesforce.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment and as a satellite office with the ability to manage time and workload.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
