What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Development Associate position at Variner?
LOCATION:
Charlotte, NC
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize in-house business development team and network of brokers, vendors, past sellers, and other contacts to continue to develop and manage the acquisition pipeline.
- Perform preliminary screening of acquisition targets to determine potential fit.
- Conduct introductory calls with potential sellers and gather preliminary information to determine valuation ranges.
- Prepare investment committee presentations for CEO and Board of Directors presentations.
- Coordinate post-LOI transaction due diligence by interfacing directly with sellers and Straightaway’s network of advisors (legal, Q of E, tax, environmental, etc.).
- Negotiate legal documentation with sellers and see transactions through from LOI to closing.
- Develop internal reporting metrics around the acquisition pipeline, conversion rate, and perform other ad hoc analysis.
- Interface daily with other internal teams to communicate updates on the acquisition pipeline and assist with any information requests.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or another business-related field.
- 3 years of combined accounting, finance, and strategic analysis experience.
- Demonstrated excellence in financial analysis and model building.
- Strong working knowledge of a profit and loss statement.
- Function effectively in an especially fast-paced, high growth operating environment, managing time effectively to address high priority items in a timely manner.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and executive presence.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate with peers, subordinates, and executive management.
