Job Description
A PCB bench technician diagnoses, repairs, and tests electronic circuit boards, requiring skills in soldering, troubleshooting, and using technical diagrams, while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Meet customer & departmental goals relative to RMA/MRB schedules.
- Effectively evaluate, test and when necessary, perform repairs on PCBs returned by customers.
- Work within the parameters of the QM System to help Variosystems achieve general and company-specific quality efforts and growth goals.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols.
- Perform incoming inspection and testing of circuit boards.
- Perform evaluation, test and when necessary, perform repairs from RMAs, ECNs, NCMR’s & Test.
- Create work orders for large qty reworks within SAP.
- Coordinate with Procurement component replacement order requests.
- Keep workstations and RMA/MRB work areas clean.
- Check SAP Notifications for daily, weekly and monthly customer RMA returns.
- Record data in Aegis as required.
- Perform on-the-job training when needed.
- Report RMA status to management.
- Perform other duties as directed by management.
- Maintain material traceability as required.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning electronic equipment and circuit boards.
- High level soldering skills in both Surface Mount and Through Hole technology.
- Ability to work well as a technician and member in a Quality Assurance environment.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand schematic drawings, assembly drawings, Bills of Materials, Work Instructions, & test procedures.
- Ability to remove and replace all types of components including Through Hole, Surface Mount and Ball Grid Array.
- Communicate effectively in English (both written and verbal).
- Advanced knowledge of IPC-610 accept/reject criteria regarding printed circuit board assemblies.
- Ability to interpret component manufacturer’s data sheets in regard to package design, part and lot numbers, correct orientation, or other technical data as required.
- Analyzing and interpreting test data.
- Calibrating precision instrumentation.
- Keep up to date with the latest technical advancements and repair techniques.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis and provide RCA reporting on analysis of RMA PCBs.
