What are the responsibilities and job description for the Uniformed School Marshal position at Various Buildings?

Calendar: 187 days
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide security and protection for students, staff and visitors. Prevent loss of life and property due to theft and vandalism.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Clear and valid driver’s license
Able to obtain Texas License to Carry permit (LTC) through the state of Texas
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Have the physical capability to subdue offenders, including use of firearms, less lethal options, and hand cuffs.
Ability to pass required medical, psychiatric and drug tests
Ability to work well with youth and adults
Able to effectively communicate and de-escalate potential volatile encounters
Possess the ability to think clearly under stressful conditions
Possess good active listening skills
Be flexible to a changing routine
Possess good judgement
Have an extremely high level of integrity and professionalism
Possess surveillance skills
Ability to follow all State and Districts enforcement laws
Experience:
Prior Law Enforcement or military preferred but not required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Patrol assigned campus. Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules related to student conduct, vehicle operation, traffic control, and parking enforcement as needed, including issuing parking citations.
- Resolve conflict or confrontation between students and report disturbances to principal or assistant principal.
- Assist with law enforcement as needed
- Teach safety classes such as drug abuse classes when needed
- Conduct video surveillance.
- Testify in court if needed
- Complete accurate reports of incidents
- Provide protection or escort district personnel as needed
- Operate all equipment including firearms according to established procedures and state law
- Work security for the sporting/special events
- Act as a resource and or guide to authorized visitors
- The primary duty of Granbury ISD Security Personnel does not involve regular, direct contact with students. The primary duty is to provide a safe and protected campus environment. EDUC § 37.0811
EQUIPMENT USED: Fire arms, hand cuffs, pepper spray, radio, computer, vehicle, ballistic vest, safety vests, flash lights, fire extinguisher, AED and first aid trauma kits.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Posture: Prolonged sitting and or standing
Motion: Strenuous walking and climbing stairs, occasional keyboarding and use of mouse, moderate driving.
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying 15-44 pounds
Environmental: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to the elements.)
Other: Specific hearing and visual requirements; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, including violent and armed confrontation; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.
Mental Demands/Physical/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress; prolonged hours possible due to school related activities.
You will be a solid line of defense to protect the districts children faculty and staff.
