JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: STARS Site Assistant / CDC Teacher
Wage/Hour Status: $15/hour
Reports to: CDC/STARS Site Supervisors
Dept./School: Community Relations
Primary Purpose:
Open: To provide support for the Community Relations department on a part-time basis.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School DIploma or GED
Must be able to pass a background check
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist and supervise children during indor and out door activities.
- Assist children when social, academic or adjustment problems arise.
- Ensure that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the site is maintained.
- Assist children with meal/snack time and clean-up.
- Implement programs by utilizing organization and following a schedule.
- Accept temporary work assignments.
- Help to ensure that all indoor and outdoor equipment is in good working condition and is used/maintained properly.
- Physically arrange the site prior to the arrival of the children.
- Clean up site when children depart.
- Assist with planning and implementing events.
- Present a professional attitude including ethical and responsible behaviors.
- Maintain knowledge of children's intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and character development and the importance of the development of all of these.
- Convey a sense of integrity and warmth and a genuine caring for the development of each child.
- Maintain confidentiality for parents, children, staff and management.
- Maintain documentation on all aspects of the site and children.
- Create and maintain directions, schedules and expectations to be used by a substitute teacher fo planned and unplanned regular teacher absences.
- Maintain site postings.
- Present a professional attitude including ethical and responsible behaviors.
- Meet all state and district requirements for the position including maintaining required training hours.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Skills
Knowledge of public school operations
Office skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Previous experience working with children preferred
Safety
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing and carrying
- Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the immediate supervisor
