CLASSIFICATION: CERTIFIED EXEMPT
JOB TITLE: ELEMENTARY DEAN
REPORTS TO: SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
CALENDAR: 0222 (222 days)
RANGE: CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL SALARY SCHEDULE
Job Goal
To support the administrative, instructional, and operational functions of a school site with high student enrollment. Note: Dean positions are approved annually with a maximum length of three years.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in education related field
- Principal Certification or currently enrolled in an Administrative Certification Program
- AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Five years of exemplary teaching experience, preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills
Core Job Functions
- Assist with the development of programs and monitor implementation of CUSD curriculum to meet the needs of all learners
- Participate on school assessment teams on a quarterly basis
- Analyze and utilize all summative, formative and common assessment data to guide decision making for instruction and student achievement
- Assist with the development of a comprehensive school improvement plan to include goals, objectives, activities, timelines, and resources
- Support all CUSD approved Tier 3 instructional programs
- Support the development of the site’s professional development plan for all employees
- Partner with the principal and involve key staff members in providing ongoing professional development
- Organize school schedule to maximize time for academic learning
- Assist with planning, organizing and implementing extra-curricular school activities
- Develop schedules for classroom observations, conferences, and follow-up activities as designated by the Principal
- Assist administration in utilizing effective interview and selection processes to recommend the most competent candidate for a given position
- Support administration with orientation of new staff members
- Systematically evaluate the performance of personnel to improve competencies
- Provide timely feedback to staff members to highlight strengths and plan for improvement
- Assist with the organization and supervision of support staff personnel for optimum performance
- Assist with certified and classified staff meetings to keep members informed of policy changes, new programs, annual reviews of health and safety mandates, school operations, etc.
- Support and assist guest teachers on campus
- Establish guidelines for acceptable student conduct and maintenance of student discipline in accordance with CUSD policies
- Provide due process procedures required by CUSD policies and laws in the management of school employees and students
- Investigate and determine consequences for conduct referrals, incident reports, and other inappropriate behavior
- Work in coordination with teachers and administrators in planning and developing programs to address remediation of behavioral and discipline problems
- Monitors excessive tardies and absenteeism and takes action accordingly
- Consult and collaborate effectively with parents/guardians and teachers regarding student’s identified concerns and needs
- Utilize the District’s web-based system to document reportable behavior incidents, in accordance with District and State guidelines
- Participate on the Mandatory Reporting Team, as needed
- Assist with coordinating and supervising bus loading, traffic and pedestrian flow in the parking lot, and arrival and dismissal procedures
- Work with parents and community members to enhance positive community relations
- Demonstrate effective time management practices
- React to stressful situations in a clam and positive manner
- Portray a positive school image among staff, parents, and community
- Maintain discipline through open communication among students, staff, and parents
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administrator
