Position Network Administrator Level III
Reports to Director – Technology & Innovation
FSLA Full-time, exempt
Position Summary
Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the operation, integrity, and security of the networks and infrastructure of multiple schools and districts for Vartek. This includes planning, designing, implementing, and supporting network technologies.
Essential Functions
· Maintaining computer networks and systems including switches, software, mainframes, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware.
· Installing and configuring network equipment to update or fix hardware or software issues.
· Management and maintenance of Vartek’s and Vartek’s clients’ network environment.
· Implement and maintain all network, security, and firmware updates to meet requirements.
· Document network-related standards, hardware, and software platforms.
· Assist in resolving complex issues related to the network.
· Perform advanced diagnostics and maintenance on routers, switches, and other network components.
· Analyze systems’ statistics and performance; recommend enhancements.
· Research, identify, and recommend concepts and schemes to enhance the performance of the network.
· Research and implement new technologies.
· Support and oversee continual analysis of network architecture, maintaining operating systems standards.
· Assist the engineering team to design, document, and implement security policies, in addition to backup and disaster recovery plans.
· Research multiple incidents with common symptoms and identify root cause; apply resolution across all affected IT environments.
· Plan and perform configuration changes according to Vartek’s change management process.
· Communicating networking issues to leadership.
Requirements
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree; computer science or information technology preferred
· 5-10 years of experience designing, implementing, and managing network related hardware including firewalls, core switches, and wireless access points.
· Knowledge of networking services and common networking protocols.
· Ability to problem solve and think critically to solve network or network related issues and problems.
· Attention to detail.
· Ability to plan and implement projects with timelines and schedules
· Ability to effectively communicate technical information and to effectively write technical documentation.
· Expert knowledge of server and network hardware, software, and industry best practices for security.
One or more preferred: CCNA, CCNE, CCNP
Some limited driving travel required (1-2 hour drivetime radius of Cincinnati) no overnight stays
Physical Requirements: Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; ability to lift at least 25 pounds
Work Schedule Monday-Friday 7-4 or the typical K12 school schedule
