What are the responsibilities and job description for the SEASONAL Server position at Vasari Country Club Master Association?
This Seasonal Server position will begin in October and end in April 2025.
The Seasonal Server is responsible for greeting members and their guests, explaining menu items, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and issuing the guest check. Incumbent will also perform opening and closing side work duties, assist with the setting up and breaking down of all banquets and dining room functions, and will help to keep the storage room, dining room, banquet room, and wait stations in proper order.
HOURS AND DAYS
Hours and days fluctuate according to the wants and needs of the members and guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Report to work on time in neatly pressed uniform and in accordance with Club uniform, grooming and dress policies and with a professional attitude.
- Greet members and guest by name, explain menu items, take orders, serve food and beverages, and prepare and issue guest check.
- Know your service manual and service techniques.
- Perform side work before dining room is open (slice lemons, prepare tables, make coffee, etc.) and perform closing side work after dining room is closed.
- Follow up with members and guests after orders are served; ensure members and guests are provided excellent service and excellent food. Resolve any menu corrections.
- Maintain dining room, banquet room, storage room, and wait station in clean and neat fashion. Ensure all items are spotless at all times.
- Assist in the set up and bread down of all banquet and dining room functions.
- Assist other employees when possible.
- Sets up service station(s) and performs assigned side work (kitchen, coffee, etc.).
- Knowledge on service pieces, service procedures and service timing.
- Knowledge of menu, sauces, and wine service.
- Provides immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating.
- Fills glasses with ice water while members and guests review menu.
- Describes any specials of the day to members and guests. Answers questions regarding any menu item. Offers suggestions of menu items when appropriate.
- Takes food and beverage orders for members and guests.
- Complies with all laws/policies relating to the service of alcohol.
- Able to mix cocktails, set up cooking carts and cook tableside recipes.
- Turn orders into the kitchen, advise cooks about any special cooking instructions OR has knowledge to input into POS computer system.
- Assembles food on the tray, serves meal, place dishes by course in front of each person, and serve from left of the person.
- Follows up with members and guests to ensure satisfaction. Replenish items as needed.
- Removes dirty dishes.
- Suggests and serve dessert, coffee and after dinner drinks.
- Charges the bill to member’s account.
- Keeps the restaurant clean, well-stocked and organized.
- Maintains linens/restocking.
- Advises Department Leaders of any complaints.
- Performs clean-up and closing duties.
- Attends any food and beverage meetings.
- Server is required to perform each task in a professional and friendly manner.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Well spoken, good communication skills.

- Prior waiter experience preferred, club experience a plus.
- Be agile in carrying trays.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs from the floor.
- Must be able to stand for an 8–12-hour shift with only appropriate breaks
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a server in a fine dining setting required (experience in private club preferred). Must possess knowledge of proper dining room service. Must possess excellent interpersonal communicational skills and ability to interact professionally with members and guests while under pressure.

- Requires constant (67% -100% of the time) standing or walking around for 6 to 14 hours daily.
- Requires constant lifting of food trays, dishes, tables, chairs, and glassware (up to 50 pounds).

- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Must possess the ability to walk to and from kitchen and tables in a brisk fashion.

The work environment will entail all food and beverage outlets. While performing the duties of this job, the associate occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
