Job Objective:
The staff nurse provides IV access, collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians and other members of the health care team in the delivery of health care services to the specific patient population. The IV access RN assesses patient's needs, plans care, implements and evaluates patient care in accordance with the patient’s needs based on the nurse’s knowledge of growth/development, the hospital and nursing philosophy, policies/procedures and standards. Position may require working at alternate sites.
Education: Required: BSN
Licensure/Certification
Required: Florida RN licensure; American Heart Association BLS
MANDATORY: Certified in PICC line Midline insertions
Experience: MUST have at least a minimum one year experience of PICC/Midline insertions
- Required: 1-2 years Telemetry experience or high acuity.
Specific Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of current nursing, medical and health trends and practices in rendering of patient care
- Knowledge and ability to function in a professional role and serve as a professional role model
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively
- Demonstrates ability to change intervention strategies when expected outcomes not met
- Extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology, sterile technique, timeout and universal precautions
PICC Nurse Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for independently placing Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC Lines) and Midlines. A professional Registered Nurse who possesses and demonstrates excellent clinical skills and knowledge in the field of Vascular Access. Coordinates vascular access needs of patient with unit nurses and physicians. Experienced in the use of the BARD Sherlock 3cg or Angiodynamics products for placement of PICC lines, and will complete detailed competencies for its use. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use Ultrasound for placement of Midlines and IV’s. Educates patients and family to insure understanding of both the need for vascular access and placement procedure. Call and travel is required.
Pay: $200.00 - $600.00 per day
