Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our billing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing incoming payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role is crucial in supporting the financial health of our organization and requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software.
Responsibilities
1) Report Monitoring: The Insurance Accounts Receivable (IAR) representative is required to regularly review and print the Accounts Receivable Report to identify outstanding claims (every 4-6 weeks) and actively work on resolving claims that have been outstanding for more than 45 days.
2) Communication: The IAR representative is responsible for communicating with insurance companies via phone and written appeals to follow up on outstanding claims, denials, and payments.
3) Patient Accounts: The IAR representative is responsible for making adjustments to patient accounts as necessary, ensuring compliance with insurance regulations, CPT, ICD-10, and accounting principles.
4) Team Work: IAR representatives should collaborate with Charge Entry, Coders, and Payment Posting personnel to resolve billing issues.
5) EOB Knowledge: The IAR representative must possess a working knowledge of interpreting Explanation of Benefits from insurance companies.
6) Insurance Law and Regulation Knowledge: The IAR representative is required to be well-versed in basic Maryland, Delaware, and Federal insurance laws and collection regulations, including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Medicare Replacement Plans.
7) Secondary Claims: The IAR representative is responsible for submitting clean secondary claims to insurance companies along with attached primary EOB.
Requirements
- Proven experience in an accounts receivable or similar billing role.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
