Job Description:
As a Medical Receptionist/Front Desk, you will be crucial in creating a positive and welcoming environment for our patients. You will be the first point of contact for patients, providing outstanding customer service and ensuring smooth operations at the front desk. Your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Patient Check-in and Registration:
- Greeting patients in a friendly and professional manner in both English and Spanish
- Collecting and verifying patient information and insurance details
- Accurately entering patient data into the electronic medical records system
- Assisting patients with required forms and documents
2. Appointment Scheduling and Coordination:
- Scheduling patient appointments, surgeries, and follow-up visits
- Managing the appointment calendar efficiently
- Coordinating with patients to confirm appointments and provide necessary instructions
- Collaborating with medical staff to optimize scheduling and ensure timely patient flow
3. Telephone and Email Management:
- Answering phone calls promptly and addressing patient inquiries or directing them to the appropriate department
- Responding to emails professionally and promptly
- Handling general inquiries and providing accurate information about the practice and its services
4. Insurance and Billing Support:
- Verifying insurance coverage and obtaining pre-authorizations as necessary
- Assisting patients with insurance claims and billing inquiries
- Collecting co-payments and providing receipts
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines
5. Administrative Support:
- Performing general administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
- Maintaining the reception area, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and a welcoming atmosphere
- Assisting with medical records management and data entry
Requirements:
- Bilingual
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in medical administration is a plus
- Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and insurance protocols
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer skills -
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).-
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong focus on customer service
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- Professional and positive attitude, maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity in dealing with patients' personal information
