Job Title: Linux/Unix System Administrator
Location: San Jose, CA 95134
Work Hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM PST (Onsite)
Duration: 12 Months
Position Summary
We are seeking a Linux/Unix System Administrator with expertise in VMware administration, DevOps tools, and infrastructure management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for system installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of Linux, Windows, and application systems supporting infrastructure and R&D.
This role requires strong problem-solving skills, security awareness, and hands-on experience in improving system stability, performance, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration & Engineering:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows systems.
- Set up and manage virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, etc.).
- Handle storage management (NetApp, Dell/EMC, PureStorage).
- Support infrastructure automation tools (Ansible).
- Manage Foreman deployment and system inventory (GLPI).
- Configure and maintain network equipment (Cisco, Mellanox).
Operations & Support:
- Apply OS patches, security updates, and upgrades (Linux, Windows, VMware, Apache).
- Monitor system health, analyze logs, and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Ensure regular backups, security monitoring, and compliance reporting.
- Support Tier III troubleshooting, incident resolution, and system recovery.
- Assist in managing EDA tools, FlexLM licenses, and DevOps tool administration (JIRA, Git, Jenkins, LDAP, etc.).
Maintenance & Optimization:
- Optimize system performance, CPU/memory allocation, and storage resources.
- Upgrade and configure enterprise software and security policies.
- Document system configurations, best practices, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Provide after-hours and weekend support as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of Linux/Unix system administration experience.
- Strong expertise in VMware administration and management.
- Experience with Jenkins, Git, Ansible, Foreman, and DevOps tools.
- System Administration certifications preferred (Linux , RHCSA, RHCE).
- Proficiency in shell scripting, cron jobs, and log file analysis.
- Knowledge of network equipment management (Cisco, Mellanox, etc.).
- Familiarity with security protocols, firewalls, SSL certificates, and web-based technologies.
- CompTIA Security certification (or equivalent experience).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and relocate servers as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EDA tools and FlexLM license management.
- Background in enterprise service architecture, reverse proxy servers, and three-tier architectures.
