JOB TITLE: ARSOF Captain Career Course Instructor SECURITY CLEARANCE: SECRET LOCATION: Ft. Bragg, NC PURPOSE: 6th Battalion, 2nd Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne), United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School provides training and education support to Special Operations Forces, sister service personnel, allied partners, and interagency personnel. The unit is responsible for innovation and modernization efforts to support emerging multi-domain operations doctrine. Major research and development technical areas include irregular warfare, special warfare, information warfare; offensive and defensive cyber-enabled operations; and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance. The ARSOF Captain Career Course (CCC) Small Group Instructor serves as a primary instructor for the Army Common Core (ACC) and provides instructional support to the ARSOF-CCC. Develops and adapts new or revised training or testing materials for formal course use. Participates in planning, developing, evaluating, and revising curriculum. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: * Information Operations and C4ISR curriculum development and execution * Conduct research and analysis to identify and recommend solutions to improve SOF training and education * Conduct operations research and systems analysis to provide capability and utility assessments regarding specific lines of effort and command priorities * Conduct multi-discipline research and analysis to recommend training solutions and training scenarios for specific special warfare and irregular warfare * Research and make recommendations for curriculum development * Incorporate irregular warfare and special warfare requirements in a complex training environment * When required to travel to support additional research and non-routine training, support * Assess and test developed courseware to include hardware and software * Develop an instructional approach for course content and delivery methods * Facilitate the planning and execution of field training exercises and mobile training teams * Conduct non-routine training and educational instruction on course curriculum * Cyber security * Analyze and assess the ability of existing Government cyber research lab to support research that instructs offensive and defensive cyber-enabled operations * Develop recommendations for addressing cyber security vulnerabilities and cyber range infrastructure investments in existing cyber security CONOPS, TTPs, AAR reports, assessments, and information papers * Conduct testing and evaluation for emerging cyber security and C4ISR-related systems, subsystems, equipment, and components * Research and analyze emerging commercial and DoD technologies for applicability to cyber security and C4ISR-related systems * Develop non-routine training materials to educate end users on the latest operating and maintenance procedures for computer and network systems * Research industry and Government data, policies, and procedures to develop recommendations to reduce lifecycle costs through improvement of reliability, maintainability, and sustainability of Government cyber security and C4ISR-related systems, subsystems, equipment, and components * Update lesson plans as changes occur that alter the method of delivery (for example, when computer-based instruction modules or interactive courseware replace classroom instruction). Follow lesson plans, deviating to relate to students with complicated, specialized learning difficulties, accommodate sudden changes in subject-matter area, or for other unavoidable circumstances. Plan and present material in accordance with lesson plans and within the prescribed course framework. * Adjust presentation or other instructional methods, to include adjustments to accommodate or resolve student and/or source material problems, last minute schedule changes, equipment malfunctions or lack of supplies. Utilize training aids (training models and devices) to enhance training outcome. Participate in panel discussions, seminars, and conferences. Provide accurate, comprehensive, current, and thoughtful information on assigned specialty area. * Maintain classroom decorum by acting upon distractions or disturbances. Report student absence and tardiness. * Ensure teaching supplies, equipment and classrooms are available and operational at the allotted time. Introduce innovative and new approaches to established classroom techniques. Ensure students are knowledgeable of potential dangers from equipment and hazards. In cases where training equipment or information is very valuable or sensitive, ensure classroom procedures meet security and confidentiality standards. * Prepare and administer formal/informal tests or quizzes. Review them for accuracy and appropriateness of material coverage and student understanding of the material. Observe student classroom activities and participation. Provide guidance to students and student projects. Maintain attendance information. Counsel students in the areas of performance, deportment, attitude, or participation and completes appropriate form with recommendations. * Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness throughout course of instruction. Complete analysis of program effectiveness. Conduct task analyses for determining training requirements or in special staff studies of training and testing materials. * Serve as a member of teaching team and coach students by observing and mentoring, providing feedback, counseling with professional and personal development. Evaluate student learning. Develop goals, define learning objectives, and develop appropriate course, and program assessments and author course materials. * Develop and maintain professional development relating to all aspects of education and Army-related knowledge. Prepare reports on student performance tracking. * Encourage students to develop confidence to become learners that are more independent. Teach students skills in Army Common Core Program of Instruction (POI). Provide help to students so they may achieve academic success. Communicate effectively with students. Help students with the computers, study skills programs, creation of handout materials, and/or web site materials if assigned. Administer student evaluations during each course. * Attends staff meetings. Perform routine Army Common Core operational duties. Provide academic performance consulting to students. Consult with students on the use of student success skills e.g., as distributed learning (dL) applications, test preparation and note taking. Advise students on goal setting, cognitive control, and stress management. Conduct educational workshops for Soldiers and focus on the education and acquisition portion of performance education. * Work is rigorous at times. The nature of Special Forces, Civil Affairs, and Psychological Operations training requires high standard of mental and physical fitness. Incumbent must at times participate in Special Forces/Special Operations ranges and field exercises in remote areas and rough terrain. * Performance of duties may require temporary work in a field environment where the individual may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions and extreme temperatures. * May be required to conduct movement by land, sea, or air via Military/Commercial fixed or rotary wing aircraft, waterborne craft, or ground transport in support of unit training in assigned core supporting tasks. The Government will provide training for embarkation and debarkation and safety procedures of specific movement vehicle (air, land, sea) to be used prior to execution. Individuals shall be required to sign and have on file with their perspective COR a "Government Transportation Waiver of Liability" prior to execution of each training event. The "Government Transportation Waiver of Liability" shall remain in effect for the duration of the exercise or training event. * Document processes and provide continual process improvement. * Comply with company standard operating policies and procedures. * Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. * Must have successfully served as a Company Grade Officer (Detachment Commander) within Army Special Operations (Special Forces, Psychological Operations, or Civil Affairs). * Must be Faculty Development Program I (FDP) qualified or willing to go TDY to become qualified. * Must be physically able to conduct cardio and weight training with ARSOF Captains. * Must be willing and able to travel TDY for engagements related to the course. * Must be willing to work flexible hours in various garrison and field environments.
