Summary:
The Purchasing Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements.
They will communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, lead time. In addition, they will procure products, materials, and supplies, while maintaining pricing and delivery schedule, and assist with all internal and external customer needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Obtain/ Evaluate Quotes and Submit Purchase Orders for Parts and Services, optimizing Cost of Goods.
· Coordinate with 3rd Party Service Providers for outside contract work
· New Vendor Setup, must be familiar with I-9, ST-12, and other standard tax forms
· Supervise Shipping and Receiving Department
· Schedule Inventory Freight Shipments - inbound and outbound
· Track open Purchase Orders to ensure on-time-delivery
· Monitor Purchasing email inbox, responding to internal and external requests in a timely manner
· Weekly reporting of component status, through various reports.
· Review and resolve inventory discrepancies
· Continually monitor process and recommends improvements.
· Utilizes software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, UPS Worldship, EOS Traction Tools, and Vaughn’s ERP System: Visual.
· Reports directly to Operations Manager
Education and Experience:
1-3 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment and Undergraduate Education preferred
Abilities:
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret inquiries or requests for detailed information from management and/ or suppliers. Ability to effectively present information to management, customers, vendors, and/or company employees
- Technical Skills: Must be well versed in standard office suite software programs, and acutely computer savvy . Ability to learn new software quickly.
- Mathematical Skills: General Math with ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, fractions and percentages.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Preferred Skills: Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) before diverse groups of customers or employees of organization. Additionally, great organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and detail oriented.
