Job Description
Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer 2
Department: Engineering
Shift: Days
Reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Exempt/Non-exempt Exempt
Position purpose/core responsibilities
Applies knowledge of materials and engineering theory and methods to design, integrate, and improve manufacturing systems or processes to increase product manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
Main Duties
Under Limited Direction
Study, analyze and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, fixtures and tooling as relevant to meet job objectives
Plan, coordinate and lead manufacturing projects. Developing plans, determining resource requirements, provide accurate and timely reports to stakeholders
Identify and recommend resolutions for existing or imminent manufacturing problems.
Investigate, prepare and recommend manufacturing cost reduction and product/process improvement programs
Coordinate with support groups to ensure manufacturability, process capabilities and capacities are developed to support new products
Coordinate or manage 3P schedules and establish Standard Operating Procedures
Working as part of a cross functional team, sustain current production by providing support for quality issues, production equipment problems and part documentation errors by determining root cause and implementing corrective actions
Develop manufacturing operating instructions or procedures and train assemblers and operators in machine operations, processes or assembly applications
May coordinate with vendors and customers during the course of assignments
Qualification Guidelines
Candidates must be a “US Person” (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)

Physical requirements
- This position requires hands-on work on the manufacturing floor using a variety of tools
- Extended periods of standing and/or walking, moderate lifting, and reasonable mobility are required
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English adequately to understand and develop work instructions
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Industrial Engineering or similar
- Requires 2 to 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
- Requires knowledge of manufacturing methods, techniques, equipment and processes
- Requires knowledge of project management skills, good communications skills.
- Requires knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques
- Requires knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans blueprints, drawings and models
- Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools is required
- CAD proficiency/design background is a plus
- Injection molding experience preferred
- Automation design, project management, and implementation experience preferred
Salary : $85,000 - $120,000
