Job Description : Nuclear Medicine & PET CT Technologist

Schedule : Monday - Friday (M-F), 7 : 00 AM - 3 : 00 PM or 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 00 PM, with On-Call Rotation for Weekends & Holidays

Position Overview :

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Nuclear Medicine and PET CT Technologist to join our dynamic team. This role will involve performing both PET CT and Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures in a state-of-the-art medical facility. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in either PET or Nuclear Medicine imaging and will be capable of handling a variety of procedures efficiently. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate imaging and providing excellent patient care.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

PET CT Imaging :

Conduct PET CT scans, including brain scans and whole-body scans.

Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients via IV injections for imaging procedures.
Prepare and operate PET scanners (Philips Gemini, mobile unit).
Ensure patient safety during procedures.

Nuclear Medicine Imaging :

Perform a variety of Nuclear Medicine procedures including :

Bone scans, brain scans, whole-body scans, cardiac MPI SPECT, gastric emptying, HIDA scans, and more.

Administer radiopharmaceuticals for procedures like thyroid uptake, renal scans, sentinel node imaging, and parathyroid scans.

Handle imaging protocols for specific conditions such as CSF Cisternogram, GI blood loss, and lung perfusion scans.

Operate Nuc Med cameras (Siemens).

Patient Care :

Prepare patients for imaging procedures, explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort.

Start IVs for contrast or radiopharmaceutical administration as necessary.

Maintain a sterile environment during imaging procedures.

Collaboration & Support :

Work closely with the Radiology team, including Radiologists and the Lead Tech.

Provide support for the team during busy periods, handling approximately 8-10 PET scans and 12-15 Nuc Med scans per day.

Participate in quality control and safety protocols, assisting the Lead Tech and Radiation Safety Officer as needed.

Administrative Duties :

Utilize Epic and PACS systems (eUnity and MIMS) for patient information and image storage.

Maintain accurate records of procedures, patient information, and imaging results.

Qualifications & Certification Requirements :

Required Certifications :

AZDHS license (must be obtained prior to employment).

Either CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) or ARRT (N) certification.

BLS certification (Basic Life Support).

Experience :

At least 1 year of experience in Nuclear Medicine or PET imaging (preferred).

Experience with PET CT and Nuclear Medicine scans is preferred, but not required for first-time travelers.

Strong IV skills and experience starting IVs.

Experience with patient care and comfort during imaging procedures.

Preferred Skills :

Experience in operating Siemens Nuclear Medicine equipment and Philips Gemini PET scanners.

Familiarity with eUnity PACS and MIMS for image viewing.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Ability to adapt to varied workflows and patient types.

Physical Requirements :

Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Ability to lift and assist patients during imaging procedures.

Additional Information :

Shifts & Scheduling :

Standard work hours are M-F, 7 : 00 AM - 3 : 00 PM or 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 00 PM, with occasional weekend on-call rotations.

Centralized scheduling office in use, and template-based scheduling is available.

Weekend and Holiday Requirements :

On-call rotation required for weekends and holidays.
