Job Overview :
Our client, a 120-bed Skilled Nursing Facility in Mendham, NJ, is seeking a qualified and compassionate Respiratory Therapist (RT) to provide high-quality respiratory care to residents. This is a full-time, permanent position with a Monday through Friday schedule, with every other weekend rotation. The RT will play an essential role in managing and improving the respiratory health of patients, particularly those in need of short-term and long-term care.
Key Responsibilities :
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments as prescribed by physicians, including ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and aerosol therapy.
- Monitor and assess patients' respiratory status, adjusting treatments and interventions as needed to optimize care.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analysis.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to create and update care plans.
- Educate patients and families about respiratory health, including techniques for managing chronic conditions and using home respiratory equipment.
- Ensure that respiratory equipment is maintained and functioning correctly, and perform routine cleaning and sterilization of equipment.
- Document all patient treatments, assessments, and progress in compliance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Respond to emergency situations, including code blue and respiratory distress situations, as part of the rapid response team.
- Adhere to all safety, infection control, and patient care protocols.
