What are the responsibilities and job description for the Credentialed Veterinary Technician/LVT position at VCA Animal Hospitals?
We are seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician/LVT to join our team. The successful candidate must have sustained expertise and skills as a Credentialed Veterinary Technician/LVT. In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and instructing Veterinary Assistants by delivering high quality veterinary medicine, patient care, and creating a positive low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
· Obtaining patient histories
· Perform cursory examinations
· Assessments
· Maintaining medical records
· Nursing Care
· Understanding the principles of aseptic, surgical packs/instruments, and maintaining sterile conditions
· Preparing surgical suite and surgical patients
· Knowledge of emergency drugs and use
· Familiarity of anesthesia equipment and operation
· Anesthesia monitoring and awareness of anesthesia emergencies
· Excellent communication skills a must
· Obtaining vitals - temperature, pulse, respirations
· Filling prescriptions
· Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging
· Drawing blood samples
· Client communication
· Providing compassionate care, a home away from home for boarded and hospitalized pets
· Work with different species, breeds, and temperament of animals
· Sustained knowledge of veterinary medical terms and vaccine protocols
