VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center is looking to expand its Internal Medicine service and is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to join its team!
Internal Medicine Service:
Internal Medicine specialists are often considered the puzzle solvers of Veterinary Medicine. VCA Midwest's Internal Medicine service is equipped to deal with whatever problem a patient brings—no matter how common or rare, or how simple or complex. Our Internal Medicine service diagnoses and treats the many serious diseases that can affect our patients' internal body systems.
Our IM Patient Care Team understands the body systems and the disease process, learn advanced diagnostic testing, provide excellent patient care, and treat patients with cutting-edge techniques. The responsibilities of the Technicians and Veterinary Assistants are to provide support to the Internists and to be part of a collaborative environment to provide thorough patient care.
Primary job responsibilities include:
- Provide nursing care for the Internal Medicine patients
- Assist veterinarians and technicians in diagnostic procedures such as ultrasounds, endoscopies, and other internal medicine interventions
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and surgical suites, ensuring cleanliness and sterilization protocols are followed
- Assist with all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge, including departmental rounds
- Communicate with clients and help manage long term patient care
- Monitor and restock medical supplies and equipment, ensuring the clinic is well-prepared for daily operations
- Collaborating with veterinarians and other team members to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety
- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, assisting in triage and stabilization of critically ill patients as needed.
Qualifications:
- 1 years experience working as a Veterinary Assistant
- Must be able to work successfully as part of a team
- Ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 40 pounds
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients and staff members
Schedule: Full-Time, four 10-hour weekdays.
Compensation:
Starting range is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field/specialty. Financial growth opportunities available.
